Sir, you are a terrible influence. This video caused me to buy an FT-817ND and I like it! I hit the VK3RSE repeater in Glen Waverley using 2.5W from my back yard in Newport. Fantastic fun!

Very Nice! I’d be fond of to get myself an 817 to mess about with at the beach.

@mags71 No sorry to say the 817 didn’t come with the right slant adapter. The ship’s mast, as you probably admit just pokes out into your mug if you lay the telephone logic down! If you use the telephone logic with the carry strap it’s honest…but no excellent for laying it down. Luckily I had a right slant adapter kicking around in my junk box but you can get them on Ebay etc too.

did yours come with the right slant adapter for the ship’s mast?

@QRPPPSK31 Hi Jack. The FT-917ND can place out 500mw, 1w, 2.5w and 5w. I knocked it down to 500mw and subdue had no vex getting out even with a Buddipole. I certainly had fun with it today and look forward to going out with it over again as I can. Many more videos to come! Regards, Craig VK3CRG
